The challenge
Sterling & Vance LLP, a mid-size litigation and corporate practice, had 42 active matters spread across partners and associates with no single view of any of it. Filing deadlines lived in individual calendars, billable hours were logged across a few different spreadsheets, and the managing partner had no reliable way to see who on the team was overloaded until someone missed a deadline or burned out.
Billing conversations were just as scattered, revenue and collections got reconciled by hand at month end instead of being visible day to day.
The approach
We built one firm dashboard: every active matter with its status, lead attorney, and next deadline, a live view of team workload, and revenue and receivables tracked against collections, all in the same place every morning.
- Every active matter in one table, sortable by status, lead attorney, and next deadline
- A firm-wide deadlines view pulling from every matter, not just what's on one partner's calendar
- Team workload and utilization visible at a glance, so an overloaded associate gets caught early
- Revenue and receivables tracked against collections, so billing conversations use real numbers
The result
The managing partner can see the health of all 42 matters, who's overloaded, and what's overdue in one glance instead of chasing partners for updates. Deadlines get flagged automatically instead of relying on individual calendar discipline, and billing conversations happen with current numbers instead of a month-end reconciliation.
